Adding to My Report

Inner Wall Walk

You stand on Anvard’s Inner Wall Walk. From here you have a view of both the Inner and Outer Wards. A cool wind ruffles your clothes. A glance down into the Outer Ward reveals the bustle of people going to and from the market stalls, or off to various duties throughout the castle. In the Inner Ward you see nobles and staff, mingling happily or going about their own business.

You can go: Toward the Trapdoor Opening <N>, Southern Watchtower <S>

Garian leans back against a wall, arms folded in front of him. He gazes out over the Outer Ward.

Haft arrives and glances around.  He strides toward Garian.  “Captain.  Perth thought I might find you here.”

Garian looks over and nods, greeting Haft in a polite manner, “Guardsman.”

Garian stands straight. “How may I help you?”

Haft says, “It occurs to me that there was a detail I forgot to mention during my report on Aaron’s recent activities.”

Garian gives a small nod, “Go on.”

Haft says, “Apparently at the same time that I was in the kennels…ah…talking to Lanisen…” He grimaces, “the man drew attention to himself in such a way that the lady Avery felt she ought to give him a false name.”

Haft says, “Apparently at the same time that I was in the kennels…ah…talking to Lanisen…” He grimaces, “the man drew attention to himself in such a way that the Lady Avery felt she ought to give him a false name.”

Garian asks, “Give who a false name?”

Haft says, “Aaron.  That is, she told him a false name for herself, told him her name was Lorrie.  Apparently Miss Abrielle joined in as well and told him her name was…Marigold, I think it was.”

Garian’s brows furrow and he frowns. “Why would they do that?”

Haft looks like he hasn’t quite worked it out either.  “I was unclear.  Lady Avery said she didn’t want him carrying her name to friends at the tavern.  I don’t know if she feared romantic rumors or…” He purses his lips.  “I told her with her hair and hands he could hardly have mistaken her for a commoner, even if she was dressed more plainly than usual.  She, uh, said he seemed to make Lanisen uncomfortable…but you know that.

Garian considers this and gives a mirthless smile, “I see now… With her past, I can see her exercising extra caution. Did Aaron take interest in the women?”

Garian pauses, then asks suddenly, “Is /that/ when Aaron mentioned he wanted to see the inside of the castle?”

Haft shakes his head.  “He’s been interested in the inside since I met him, if memory serves.

Haft says, “But yes, apparently he did take an interest, and that’s what troubles me.  He asked Lady Avery to visit the tavern with him.”

Garian’s expression darkens. “And how was his behavior toward her?”

Inner Ward of Anvard> Kairyn comes walking into the Ward from the Infirmary door.

Inner Ward of Anvard> Kairyn walks west toward the staff quarters.

Haft says, “Apparently cordial.  When she declined in favor of a stroll around the grounds, they talked of other things.  His desire to see inside, for one.  And that new litter of pups he’s been using as an excuse to visit the kennels.  But, if he /didn’t/ mistake her for a commoner, that invitation…”

Garian snorts, “Yes… I find it hard to believe he didn’t recognize her. Lady Avery’s reputation is… widely known–knowing who her family is.”

Haft says, “She requested discretion, wanted to discuss the incident with her brother first.  She said she would not be visiting the Outer Ward again for some time.  Abrielle has gone to her own home, so she should not meet Aaron again until she returns.”

Garian asks, “Do we have assurance Abrielle made it home safely and was not… intercepted by Aaron in the woods?”

Haft frowns with worry.  “No, I don’t.  She said she was going to Coghill.”

Garian rubs the bridge of his nose. “So far Aaron has not harmed anyone. I shall inquire with my superiors if this should be looked into.”

Haft nods.

Garian asks, “Has the Lady spoken to anyone of this?”

Haft says, “I would assume she has by now spoken to her brother.  Beyond that I do not know.  Abrielle confirmed the story with me shortly after.”

Inner Ward of Anvard> Dalia goes [IC] In-Character.

Garian grunts. “Then perhaps I shall see out her brothers. Is there anything else?”

“No, sir, thank you for your time.” He turns to head back the way he came.

Garian nods, “Thank you Guardsman.”

Haft walks north to the trapdoor opening.
